Wasting Time vs Being Productive

A few months back I was farming and listening to pandora radio, as I often did when gaming online, when I stopped to write this little ditty shown below.  My mind was  humming a tune similar to the Oh Buddha song by the Imperials as I was writing.   God was beginning his talks with me about wasting time and non-productivity.

Inspiration comes out of nowhere - NOT - inspiration comes by listening to the voice of God.  Diving into the Word, being in prayer and, in my life, through music is how I have found inspiration as of late.

Just out of the blue the words started coming to me and I knew it was time for me to begin to think about what I was doing, what I needed to be doing and obeying what God wants me to be doing.  When God speaks, you listen.  I had just started back at writing about two months prior and farming was getting in the way and then I started gardening!  What a wake up call these words spoke to me and since then I have given up the garden and the farms.

Yes, FARMS.  Ten to be exact.  I had a lot of fun the last two years farming.  My goal was to not spend one dime of real money (and I didn't spend one dime) on the farm but rather to only spend farm coins and earned farm cash by leveling.  I was finally finding myself stagnant however in my farming and growing tired of leveling.  I hit level 151 and it hit me or I should say God's conviction hit me!   I scraped by until reaching level 162 before completely selling the farm.

I've now spent this year fiddling with writing again and in recent months have taken to blogging.  I enjoy writing.  I enjoy  music.  I enjoy reading.  Now instead of gaming while I listen to music I am writing.  I am purposefully writing each day to hone my craft and bring glory to God through it.

Here is that ditty God gave me that worked its conviction on my heart.  God is always there and somehow on the 2oth of June he broke through to me on the time wasters in my life.

WASTED TIME

Given up the time wasters
Given up that wasted time
No more gardens
No more farms
Given up that wasted time

Socially acceptable yet
Relationally objectable
Given up that time wasted
To spend it with my Lord

Given up the time wasters
Given up that wasted time
No more gardens
No more farms
Given up that wasted time

Today I planted trees
Today I grew a garden
Yet in the scheme of eternity
No seeds to harvest or lives were lead
To Jesus, my King, my Saviour

Given up the time wasters
Given up that wasted time
No more gardens
No more farms
Given up that wasted time

Now just a few more hours
Weary wasted hours
Jesus hear my plea
Lead me to your still water
So peace I may be

Lord I'm given up those wasted hours
No more wasted hours
Training in your Word
And in prayer is where I'll be

Given up the time wasters
Given up that wasted time
No more gardens
No more farms
Given up that wasted time
for you my Lord, my King, my Saviour.
